Student Teacher Appreciation Recognition
What is it?
- A celebration of student, support staff and teacher success with monthly rewards.
- Provides students with a major self-esteem boost and support staff and teachers with recognition.
- Gives parents and the community the opportunity to see that we value student success and support staff/teacher excellence.
- STAR recognitions are intended to publicly acknowledge those students who exceed building-wide expectations on a regular basis. The PBIS team has found that students appreciate being recognized, and students who are not normally acknowledged academically are shown appreciation for what they do as an LHS community member. STAR is also special in so much as it recognizes those teachers and staff who exceed the expectations set for them
- S.T.A.R. of the month by grade level - one boy and one girl from each.
- S.T.A.R. teacher of the month - one for the whole school.
- S.T.A.R. Support Staff of the month - one for the whole school.
- LHS staff submits nominations providing reasons why the individual should be chosen.
- The P.B.I.S. committee selects the winners.
- Small plaque.
- Picture put on display in a special place of the school building for all to see, sent to yearbook, and sent to school and local paper.
- Announcement over the school P.A.
- Special formal luncheon with their families invited. During this luncheon they will receive theirs plaque and positive comments from all their teachers.

- Teachers have their nominations emailed to Bmatthews on or before the 23rd of each month.
